01 / Selected Work

Things I've built.

2026

Orbis

A private contacts app. Keep a Work and a Social profile, share a short code instead of your number, and every change syncs to the right people automatically. The app, a Firebase backend with sixteen Cloud Functions, and the website, all built solo.

2026

Market Brief

Type a ticker, get the metrics that actually matter — Sharpe ratio, max drawdown, P/E, market cap — alongside live price data. A mobile app backed by a Python service I built and deployed.

Swift FastAPI Fly.io Shipped

2025

Investing for Everyone

My final-year dissertation. A web app that lets new investors deposit (simulated) funds and have an AI agent trade for them — with a built-in glossary and explainers to demystify the markets along the way.

Python / Flet Reinforcement Learning Financial Inclusion

2025

Perfect Circle

A daily-challenge game. One attempt a day to draw a perfect circle, scored out of 100 by geometric analysis. Streaks, history, no ads — just the mechanic.

2024

0 to Hero

A university group project. A Django web app that gives students one sustainability challenge a day, scores them for doing it, and lets them spend the points on a virtual village. Five of us, two sprints, deployed for the demo. I built sign-up and login, the challenge-submission flow, the map and the profiles.

2024

Ant colony optimisation for bin packing

Two variants of an NP-hard packing problem, 500 items into 10 bins and into 50, solved with a pheromone-based ant colony algorithm, plus a parameter sweep over colony size and evaporation rate. Coursework, plain Python.

2024

Credit card default prediction

My first supervised-learning model. A two-layer neural network in TensorFlow with dropout and early stopping, predicting whether a cardholder defaults next month, at 82% accuracy on held-out data. Coursework, with the write-up in the repo.

02 / About

A short version.

Hi, I'm Henry. I'm a software engineer based in London, currently working at a small startup where I'm building the mobile app for an AI receptionist agent. Before that I studied Computer Science at Exeter.

I've always been interested in finance as much as in software. In 2025 I split an internship between investment work and engineering at a London advisory firm — sitting in pitch meetings during the week, then building tools to automate parts of the workflow.

The stuff I most enjoy building tends to live somewhere between the two. My dissertation was a reinforcement learning trading agent. Market Brief surfaces equity metrics for retail investors. I'm not picky about which side of the line a job sits on — software, finance, or anywhere they meet.

Outside of work: rugby for a local club, chess, golf, and a guitar I'm getting marginally less bad at.
